When diginomica was just a twinkle in our eyes back at the tail end of 2012, the first person from the tech industry that Den and I talked through the initial idea with was NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson at a meeting in London.
Zach was someone both of us had known for a long time and someone whose feedback we knew would be honest, but at the same time - and most importantly - tough.
If he'd told us that day that we were barking up the wrong tree, then at least we'd have known it was a fair assessment. Equally if he said we were on the right track, that was going to be a good sign.
I won't go into all the details of what was said during that chat, but suffice to say we left it encouraged that the basic idea of what we wanted to do was right and with some interesting food for thought about some things that we hadn't perhaps fully factored in at that nascent stage.
Five months later, diginomica was born.
All of that is by way of preamble to today's announcement that NetSuite has become diginomica's latest premium partner. It's an announcement I've personally looked forward to being able to make and we're all looking forward to working with the NetSuite team over the coming months.
Out of curiosity as much as anything else, I asked Zach a couple of weeks ago about his thoughts on diginomica 18 months on from that initial conversation that we'd had. He replied:
One of the exciting things about diginomica is that it has brought together a lot of the great talents that used to be out there as individuals, especially talents who were early followers of the SaaS market, and brought them together in one place. This is next generation content.
With thanks for the kind words, my immediate reaction was that this was pretty much what we'd started out to do with diginomica - and the work continues, with NetSuite as one of our industry partners.
Welcome on board, Zach and the team!
