Weissbeerger helps the beer flow

Anything that helps beer flow more quickly gets our vote. Enter Israeli based Weissbeerger. They're in the alochol analytics space, which, I must admit, is a new category to me.

To use the short form version, alco-analytics is about understanding consumption behaviors. It uses sensor technology on the beer lines which transmit data in real time back to the brewery. This in turn allows the brewery to build up patterns of consumption that in turn can be fed into trades promotion algorithms that in turn feed the supply and distribution chain which itslef is enhanced with geo-location data. It's one of those use cases which just makes sense.

In the above video, Omer Agiv, CEO Weissberger talks to our own Jon Reed about the use of SAP HANA as part of the infrastructure driving this solution. It's a fascinating story.

Now...if they could find a way of integrating Untappd then I can see a way of squaring the circle between consumers, the pub outlets and the brewers. That would be interesting.

As a side note, this is not the first time we've seen innovation in the beverages market. New Belgium Brewery which makes the excellent  Fat Tire beer implemented a smart way for sales reps to operate more efficiently in off sales markets based upon Microsoft technology.
