HP's brains trust
- Summary:
- Oliver Marks outlines the new HP story around business innovation. It involves listening, a novel concept you might think among consultants.
Last week I caught up with Oliver Marks, a long time colleague who has been working in the collaboration space for more years than most others and who understands from experience just how hard it can be to get business units working together in a cohesive manner.
Eight months ago he took on a new role as a Principal at HP, providing a service to solve business problems for customers. That might sound so-so but the interesting aspect is that this HP unit has many solutions upon which to draw. Marks explains that HP is solution brand agnostic, whether that is hardware, software or services, internal or external to HP.
This is an approach that strikes me as the kind of approach that any consultancy worth its paycheck should be adopting. Marks says the approach is one of acting as a 'listening brains trust' rather than firing off menu based solutions.
While it is early days, Marks was keen to emphasise the tailored nature of the collaborative work they are undertaking which goes across financials and supply chain situations and on a global basis.
We will return to this topic as customers come out of the woodwork but for now, the video conversation above provides a teaser to HPs approach.
